Innovative Visualization. The editorial staff of "Salzgitter-Zeitung", a by-edition of "Braunschweiger Zeitung" from Germany, have used a satellite picture to draw the public's attention to empty shops. The source is indicated as "Geobasisdaten der Niedersächsischen Vermessungs- und Katasterverwaltung" [Geodatabase from the Administration for Surveying and Mapping and Land Register of Lower Saxony]. Some newspapers now use Google maps as sources and are able, to indicate deviations, pinpoint areas where accidents are likely to occur, show courses of bicycle tours, rambling tours and a lot more by means of satellite photos. A useful tool at everybody's service. |
