Masthead. In contrast to the classical newspaper with its representative name in the masthead, "Informação" has reduced its title to the single letter "i", which in itself points out the innovative path this newspaper has taken. Headline. In the sample on the left the headline is put on a yellow background saying, "Which is the best school for your child?" Visualization. The front page refers to a 16-page supplement on a nationwide school ranking. Of the five pencils in the picture one lead point is broken, a means to visualize the difference in the schools' educational quality. Additional Teasers. At the bottom of the page teasers refer to four additional articles. Poster. The front page of this issue is designed like a poster: the information is reduced to the essentials, the headline is not followed by bodycopy. The remaining topics appear in a subordinate position. The visual element has been chosen with utmost care: as pencils are usually associated with school they are apt to represent the school system which has been put to the test in this copy . |

Front Page 2. Here, three different topics are treated with equal importance. The yellow block in the centre contains the table of contents. An interesting feature: circular photos and coloured circles reflect the dot on the letter "i".

Radar Worldwide. With the newspaper being stapled, photos and infographics can be spread over two pages. The infographics on the pages above deal with the search for the Air France plane that crashed down near the Brazilian coast in June 2009. The boats and submarines appear as two-dimensiona l black and white pictures. Even with such visual elements the editors strive for innovative ideas. Other articles on the same double page deal with topics from Great Britain, the USA, China, Lebanon, and Spain, marking it as a page from the section 'worldwide politics'.
